Storhm is a new product manufacturing company with a focus on fiberoptic HDMI connectors. A new revolutionary type of connector that will go beyond 300m with no loss in quality, and much higher durability than copper, Storhm cables are a new age in connectivity.

Connect at the speed of light

Reimagining connections with un-compromised speed, clarity, and convenience for an increasingly impatient world.

The Storhm icon was designed to resemble the very fiberoptic elements within the marquee product line. The icon was crafted embody to electricity, speed, technology, and durability.

Developed in a complex grid system with over 240 hours of applied graphic design time, the icon also had to work well with the connectors themselves, as a de-bossed effect had to be present on all cords. The effect had to be easy to grip, when adorned to the connector, and also had to work from the manufacturing side. Every detail was carefully measured and aligned to work for the longevity of the product lines, which feature over 30 types of connectors, cords, and eventually monitors.

The Storhm Primary font is Inter. This typeset was selected for its clean, futurist, technology aligned look and feel. Inter is a typeface carefully crafted & designed for computer screens.

Inter features a tall x-height to aid in readability of mixed-case and lower-case text. Several OpenType features are provided as well, like contextual alternates that adjusts punctuation depending on the shape of surrounding glyphs, slashed zero for when you need to disambiguate “0” from “o”, tabular numbers, etc.

Invented by Rasmus Andersson while working at Figma, the font became highly regarded for its great visibility on screens. Rasmus and the design team did a month-long research project to find a better-suiting option, but Roboto still came out on top and we stuck with it for several years. This experience got Rasmus thinking about text-heavy UIs and typefaces. He decided to try making his own font, designed solely for computer user interfaces, and offer it for free to the world. He released the first set of glyphs for Inter in August 2017, and he’s been iterating on it continuously ever since.
